
Way Too Early To Judge, But Here are Some Numbers To Chew On
During the coaching search, I wrote this about Justin Fuente…
“When Fuente was at TCU, the Horned Frogs hadn’t yet made the jump to a major conference. At Memphis, he competes against smaller schools for recruits. He’s never had to go head-to-head with Dabo Swinney, Larry Fedora or Jimbo Fisher. The jury is still out on Fuente as a recruiter.”
And also this…
“Recruiting makes Fuente somewhat of a risky hire, to me at least.”
I think he’s an excellent X’s and O’s coach, and he knows how to develop players. But what’s his ceiling as a recruiter? Especially when much of his staff has never recruited against Power 5 competition?
