Well…Signing Day didn’t go quite as well as everyone hoped. Of the nine players still on Tech’s board, only two decided to sign with the Hokies, and those two players combined for just two scholarship offers from Power 5 conference schools.

To recap, here’s how the day went:

DE JaQuan Bailey: Shockingly picked Iowa State over the Hokies. Bailey’s brother, Josh, also had an offer from the Cyclones. It was Josh’s only Power 5 conference offer. JaQuan was all set to go to Virginia Tech, but at the last second he chose Iowa State, most likely so his brother could play football at the Power 5 level. I suspect Josh’s offer was conditional on JaQuan coming with him, and per JaQuan himself, he did it for his mother.

WR Tyrrell Pigrome: Pigrome committed to Maryland because they are giving him a shot at quarterback.

WR Rick Wells: Wells stuck with his Florida commitment, as expected.

DE Tomon Fox: Fox stuck with his UNC commitment, as expected.

LB Chase Pine: Despite following TSL on Twitter early this morning (which gave me some hope), Pine signed with Pitt.
