Fractured Fifth Metatarsal: The Official Injury of Virginia Tech Basketball

After the news broke that freshman wing Chris Clarke fractured his fifth metatarsal, I was planning on doing the research to find out which Tech players have been hampered with this injury in the past. As it turns out, I didn’t have to worry about it. TSL message board poster QCP had me covered.

Carlos Dixon – missed all of 2003-2004 season and redshirted.
Coleman Collins – missed first 7 games in 2003-2004 season. Missed 2 games in 2004-2005 season.
Wynton Witherspoon – missed 9 games in 2005-2006 season.
Dorenzo Hudson – missed all but 9 games of 2010-2011 season and redshirted.
Cadarian Raines – missed all but 4 games of 2010-2011 season and redshirted.
Robert Brown – didn’t miss any games in 2012-2013 season, but missed all of summer workouts in 2012.
Chris Clarke – could miss around 15-20 games in 2015-2016 season.

Dixon’s injury ended up being beneficial. He was able to play in 2004-05, and his veteran experience helped lead the Hokies to an 8-8 ACC record and a spot in the NIT.
