Target Board Update: Offense

In the short time since Justin Fuente was hired, scholarship offers have been going out left and right. Chris Horne detailed the six that he was able to confirm in a free article this morning. Over the next couple of days, I want to update you on what Virginia Tech’s recruiting looks like at each position. Today we’ll start with the offense, and tomorrow we’ll take a closer look at the defense.

As an offensive-minded coach, Justin Fuente obviously wants depth on the offensive side of the ball. It’s well-documented that the Hokies currently lack depth at certain positions, particularly at wide receiver. As a result, we’ve seen a lot of scholarship offers go out to offensive recruits.

Let’s see what the Hokies are working with at each position…

Commits: Joshua Jackson
Targets: None (for now)

Virginia Tech has a solid quarterback prospect in Joshua Jackson. In his introductory press conference, Fuente mentioned that he likes quarterbacks who can move. Jackson can certainly do that.

Jackson took an unofficial visit to Penn State back in November to keep his options open. However, he has not decommitted from Virginia Tech, and he still retweets Virginia Tech and Justin Fuente related material on Twitter. He is expected to enroll in January, so if he wanted to go somewhere else, I expect he would have decommitted by now.

Will Fuente try to bring in another quarterback in this class? It’s possible. He’s a quarterback guru, and Tech’s quarterback
