Class of 2017 DE Jake Lawler Returns To VT

South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, N.C.) junior defensive end prospect Jake Lawler last traveled to Virginia Tech in July for a football camp. It was then that he earned a scholarship offer from head coach Frank Beamer. On Monday, the 6’2”, 230-pound prospect returned to Blacksburg to watch the Hokies in action against top-ranked Ohio State.

“It was crazy. Great atmosphere, and I enjoyed myself a lot,” Lawler said of the Virginia Tech/Ohio State game.

“It was really cool to experience something like that.”

Lawler, who has now made the trek to Blacksburg three times this year (Spring Game, camp, OSU game), provided his thoughts on Virginia Tech following this latest visit.

“I think I’d be a good fit with them. The defensive line really got after it and the school is really nice,” said Lawler.

Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Charlotte are the seven schools that have offered scholarships to Lawler. He has visited all of the schools based in North Carolina and Virginia. Up next in terms of visits is a trip to Tennessee this Saturday to see the Volunteers take on
