The offensive line has been a problem at Virginia Tech for a long time. The coaches did a poor job of recruiting, both in numbers and in talent level, and the offense has been paying the price for the past few seasons. Jeff Grimes and Stacy Searels have done a good job rebuilding things, but it’s going to take awhile for their young recruits to mature.

Right now, Tech’s starting offensive line looks like this…

LT: Jonathan McLaughlin (Jr.)
LG: Wyatt Teller (r-So.)
C: Eric Gallo (So.)
RG: Augie Conte (r-So.)
RT: Wade Hansen (r-Sr.)

Unfortunately Wade Hansen is injured, and Searels is doing some experimenting to find his best combination with Hansen out. He’s having a tough time of it, because there are precious few decent options after the starters.
