The best way to illustrate how experienced an offense is – or isn’t – is to take a look at the number of snaps each player has played. That’s what we’re going to do today. We’re going to take a look at the key players of Virginia Tech’s offense and see how experienced they were heading into 2014, and compare that with how experienced they are going into 2015.

I’m not sure exactly how many snaps Michael Brewer played at Texas Tech, but we do know he threw a total of 58 passes. I’ll estimate that he handed the ball off or took a knee on a further 17 snaps.
When Brewer took his first snap for the Hokies last season, he was doing so having only played around 75 snaps in his career. Not only that, he was playing in a brand new offense, and with a trio of receivers who had never taken a single college snap.
Thanks to his experience last season, Brewer will enter 2015 with over 1,000 career snaps under his belt. Even more important, he will have receivers with college experience this season, as we’ll see...
