Whit Babcock makes another great hire for Virginia Tech

It was just 10 days ago when I wrote an article praising Virginia Tech and Tim Sands for hiring Charles Phlegar. Today I have to do the same thing for Whit Babcock and his associate, Desiree Reed-Francois.

This morning, Virginia Tech announced the hiring of Pete Moris as Associate AD for Strategic Communications. Moris replaces Dave Smith, Tech’s long-time Sports Information Director. The job of Sports Information Director has gotten so big these days that it requires a new title. “Associate AD for Strategic Communications” sounds pretty big time, doesn’t it?

But what does that mean? Here’s the official paragraph from the press release…

“At Virginia Tech, Moris will oversee an office that includes seven full-time staff members and two post-graduate interns. He will be responsible for football communications and media relations, and he will coordinate with the rest of the external leadership team to provide content that enhances website traffic, strategically drives marketing initiatives and promotes the Virginia Tech athletics brand.”
