Virginia Tech had a number of defensive linemen hurt this spring, but that helped Charley Wiles develop some depth up front. Because of those extra reps, and the move of Vinny Mihota to defensive end, I feel much better about Tech’s depth at end than I did when practice began.

Today we’ll look at that critical defensive end spot, as well as the other positions in the front seven. Tomorrow we’ll return for a more thorough look at the secondary.

Defensive End

Starters: Dadi Nicolas (6-4, 236, r-Sr.), Ken Ekanem (6-3, 243, r-Jr.)
Backups: Seth Dooley (6-5, 242, r-So.), Vinny Mihota (6-5, 270, r-Fr.)
Emergency: Melvin Keihn (6-1, 211, So.)

Ken Ekanem missed spring practice, but we already know what he can do. His absence allowed more reps for the backups, and as a result Charley Wiles
