Top Virginia Tech class of 2016 targets such as Wayne Davis (CB, Lake Taylor H.S. in Norfolk), Dwayne Haskins Jr. (QB, Bullis School in MD), Jovani Haskins (TE, Bergenfield H.S. in New Jersey), Ellison Jordan (DT, Gilman School in MD), Richard Merritt (OL, Archbishop Carroll in D.C.), Jauan Williams (Archbishop Carroll in D.C.) attended the Spring Game on Saturday.

Top sophomore targets such as Ellis Brooks (LB, Benedictine in Richmond), Tahj Capehart (WR, Ocean Lakes in Va. Beach), Eric Crosby (LB/DE, Ocean Lakes in Va. Beach), Alex Faniel (QB, Glen Allen H.S. in Virginia), Deon Jones (CB, Archbishop Carroll in D.C.) and Ryan Jones (WR, Ardrey Kell H.S. in Charlotte) were in Lane Stadium as well. Ocean Lakes freshman linebacker Teradja Mitchell, who received an offer from the Hokies this past Winter, was also in Blacksburg.

The prospect turnout was a good one on Saturday. Stay tuned for individual reports as I catch up with recruits for interviews, but in the meantime here is some initial news gathered through Twitter…

Dwayne Haskins Jr., a 4-star junior signal caller out of Bullis School (Potomac, MD), made his way to Virginia Tech for a second time within the past year. He traveled to Rutgers the day before. He said at the “The Opening: D.C.” that he would visit Florida and Notre Dame as well before making a commitment, which is expected to come late May or early June.

Maryland is a top contender here, too, and Alabama and LSU are among the other offers Haskins is considering.
