It’s been awhile since we’ve taken a closer look at Tech’s 2016 recruiting. Today we’ll focus on the offensive side of the ball, and tomorrow we’ll examine the defense.
Ideal number: 1
Virginia Tech had a verbal commitment from Logan Byrd, but Byrd decided against it. Some think he’ll end up at North Carolina. At any rate, Virginia Tech still wants to take a quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class. JoVonn Quillen is currently projected as an athlete, and the Hokies are targeting true quarterbacks.
Tech has offered Jawon Pass, a high 4-star player from Georgia. However, he is very likely to end up playing football in the deep south. A more intriguing name is Dwayne Haskins of Potomac, Maryland. Haskins is a 4-star recruit and a top 100 player, and he is giving Virginia Tech a serious look right now.
Haskins has offers from schools such as Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. Right now, I consider him a longshot, but he is visiting for the Spring Game this weekend and I expect that will put the Hokies in a more favorable light. Loeffler loves Haskins and badly wants to land him.
