Yosuah Nijman: The Right Move

Yosuah Nijman was moved to offensive tackle before Tuesday’s practice. If you’ve been reading our articles or skimming our message boards over the last few months, you already know that this subject has been discussed multiple times. Personally, I think it’s the right move for Nijman, and even though the Hokies lack defensive end depth, it’s the right move for the program.

This isn’t a “win now” type of move. This is a futures play. With Ken Ekanem coming back from injury this August, Tech’s two-deep at DE is likely going to look like this…

End: Ken Ekanem (r-Jr.), Seth Dooley (r-So.)
Stud: Dadi Nicolas (r-Sr.), Melvin Keihn (So.)

The Hokies also have incoming true freshmen Houshun Gaines and Darius Fullwood, who could potentially play this year. Tremaine Edmunds could also be a candidate at defensive end. Trevon Hill will have to redshirt because of a torn ACL, but overall the coaches are more excited about guys like Gaines and Hill than Yosuah Nijman at defensive end.
