Today we’ll focus on Tim Settle, Tech’s top ranked defensive player of the 2015 class.

Rivals: 4-stars, #174 player overall, #17 DT, #10 player in VA
ESPN: 5-stars, #19 player overall, #4 DT, #2 player in VA
Virginia Tech did not sign a bigger recruit – quite literally – than Tim Settle in 2015. Settle is listed anywhere from 325 to 361 on the recruiting sites. Though that 361 number isn’t accurate, HokieSports.com lists him at 6-3, 315, which would already make him one of the biggest defensive tackles in Virginia Tech history.
Settle was highly recruited with a big offer list that included Clemson, Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, etc. He dropped in the rankings towards the end because some schools decided to dedicate their resources to guys they knew would qualify (which explains how schools like Washington State and Oklahoma State made Settle’s final five), but the Hokies chose to make him a priority, despite the fact that he is a serious candidate for prep school. That decision paid off on Signing Day, and at some point I believe it will pay off on the field as well.
