Last week, we ran an article entitled “Buzz isn’t finished with 2015 recruiting class.” Since we wrote that article, a few other names have popped up in the post and on the wing. Williams is still evaluating, and we fully expect him to sign between 1-3 new players when April rolls around.
The post is the primary area of concern, and two major names have emerged since that January 28 article. We’ll start with the frontcourt, and then move on to the wing. We’ll also mix in some Tweets from @KipTJam, who is better known to you as TSL hoops guru Rev.Zeke Vodka, whose opinions and views we fully endorse.
Hokies could sign two post players in the spring
Part of this section is a copy and paste from last week’s article, but a couple of new names have surfaced since then, and it’s becoming more and more obvious that Buzz Williams would like to sign two new post players during the spring signing period. At the very least, he’ll try to sign one more.
Here is a list of guys, both JUCO and high school, that are listed with offers from Virginia Tech.
PF Simeon Carter (6-8, 210, Charlotte, NC): Carter’s stock has risen since his senior year began. He is listed with offers from Virginia Tech, Georgia, Nebraska, Maryland and SMU. It’s hard to say exactly how good Carter is, as bigs are generally overrecruited in the spring simply because there aren’t that many of them available (sort of like offensive linemen who pick up late offers in football). Nevertheless, he is a pure power forward, which is something that is currently lacking in the program.
C Levi Cook (6-10, 300, Huntington, WV): Cook is a former West Virginia commit. However, both sides decided to part ways. Cook has great hands and is a legit low post scoring threat, but he lacks athleticism and explosiveness. IF he can control his weight, he could be a steal. That’s a big if, however. Tech has offered.
PF Kyle Alexander (6-8, Canada): Alexander is a Canadian kid whom the Hokies offered very early. He has not been mentioned with Tech recently, so it’s not clear if they are still involved, but I’m still including him as a possibility. Pitt, Miami and Wake Forest have also been involved at various points.
PF Jeremiah Worthem (6-7, 215,...
