Finally, the most difficult part of Virginia Tech’s ACC schedule is behind them.  Hopefully they can put their 0-6 record in the rear view mirror, pick up a win or two, and start playing with more confidence.

Tech’s opening six games looked like this…

vs. Syracuse
at Florida State
at #9 Louisville
at #14 UNC
vs. #8 Notre Dame
vs. #2 UVA

Those rankings are the current USA Today Coaches Poll rankings.

Geez, it doesn’t get much tougher than that, does it?  That’s three top ten teams, and one top 15 team, all in a row.  Syracuse isn’t ranked, and this isn’t the typical Orange team, but they are still 14-6.  On paper, Florida State was the most winnable game in that stretch, but the Hokies played the ‘Noles on the road, and as we know ACC road wins aren’t exactly easy to come by.

If you looked at Tech’s ACC schedule realistically when the season began, you probably saw an 0-6 start coming, or perhaps 1-5 with an upset thrown in.

Fortunately, Tech now plays six ACC games in a row that are all winnable.

Jan. 27 vs. Pitt: This isn’t the typical Pitt team.  This team will most likely not be in the NCAA tournament  this year,
