Tech has moved some future games around and scheduled a new series with Rutgers. However, the most important part of Tech’s future non-conference schedule is that it will feature more Power 5 teams. It also appears Whit Babcock is trying to cut out FCS opponents completely.
Note that this move was begun by Jim Weaver, and has been continued by Babcock since his arrival 11 months ago.
More home-and-home games against Power 5 programs
Notre Dame was placed on Tech’s schedule in 2019, giving the Hokies seven road games that year. Changes had to be made, because any AD always wants either six or seven home games in a season.
