1) How did our starting lineup versus W&M compare to our starters versus UVa?

Chris Coleman: That’s a great question. First, let’s look at the offense for the William & Mary game.

WR: Isaiah Ford
WR: Joshua Stanford
QB: Michael Brewer
RB: J.C. Coleman
FB: Sam Rogers
TE: Ryan Malleck
LT: Laurence Gibson
LG: David Wang
C: Caleb Farris
RG: Augie Conte
RT: Jonathan McLaughlin

Now, here’s the offense that started against UVA, and I’ll note the changes in bold italics.

WR: Isaiah Ford
WR: Cam Phillips
QB: Michael Brewer
RB: J.C. Coleman
TE: Bucky Hodges
TE: Ryan Malleck
LT: Laurence Gibson
LG: Wyatt Teller
C: David Wang
RG: Caleb Farris
RT: Wade Hansen

Phillips, Hodges, Hansen and Teller were different names in the starting lineup. David Wang and Caleb Farris started in different positions. As you can see, Tech’s lineup was a lot different at the end of the year than it was in late August, and that doesn’t even included all the different players who saw time at running back.

It’s important to point out that J.C. Coleman started both games, but a lot of attrition occurred in between.

Now, on to the defense. Here’s how they looked against William & Mary…

DE: Dadi Nicolas
DT: Luther Maddy
DT: Corey Marshall
DE: Ken Ekanem
LB: Chase Williams
LB: Deon Clarke
OLB: Derek DiNardo
CB: Brandon Facyson
CB: Kendall Fuller
FS: Detrick Bonner
ROV: Kyshoen Jarrett

Now, here’s the defense that started against UVA, and again the changes are in bold italics.

DE: Dadi Nicolas
DT: Corey Marshall
DT: Nigel Williams
DE: Ken Ekanem
LB: Chase Williams
LB: Deon Clarke
OLB: Derek DiNardo
CB: Chuck Clark
CB: Kendall Fuller
FS: Detrick Bonner
ROV: Kyshoen Jarrett

The changes reflect the losses of Luther Maddy and Brandon Facyson. Linebacker Chase Williams also missed a few games with a knee injury, but he returned to start against UVA.
