Nova Hokie 95

Offensive Player of the Year: My pick for this award is Michael Brewer. Yes, he had some games that were just downright brutal. He arguably cost us a win or two. But he also seemed to single-handedly will us to bookend wins against Ohio State and UVA. And lost in the 6-6 season is that he has the sixth-highest season passing total of any Hokie QB.

Defensive Player of the Year: I can’t see how I can give it to anyone outside of Chase Williams. Our season went south the moment he went out against Pittsburgh, it seemed, and his play against UVA showed just how much he’d been missed. I think Andrew Motuapoaka (and yes, I just spelled that without looking) will be a great, great player for the Hokies, but the dropoff this year was astronomical. And that’s more a testament to the level of play Chase Williams brought to the table.
