Last Friday night, Mook Reynolds and the Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) Nighthawks took care of business in a playoff matchup against Orange, defeating the Panthers 31-7 to advance to a 3AA regional. A win this week puts Northern Guilford in the 3AA state championship.
Reynolds, who had a 17-yard touchdown reception in last week’s win, headed to Virginia Tech Saturday morning to begin a two-day official visit. The 4-star senior defensive back prospect arrived in Blacksburg around 8:45 a.m.
“Saturday I visited Coach Beamer’s house and I hung out with all the recruits and players,” Reynolds recalled. “I hung out with my host (Terrell Edmunds). We all sat back and chilled the majority of the time. We just talked about life in general and football at Tech. It was nice just seeing what it’s like being a student, doing extracurriculars with the guys on team and not having to worry about having to be recruited.”
One of Tech’s first two commitments in the class of 2015, Reynolds did some recruiting for the Hokies as well this past weekend. Most notably, he spoke with 5-star defensive end Josh Sweat.
“I talked to Josh. He’s a real cool guy. He doesn’t talk much, so it was about cracking the code at first. He was cool. He didn’t give much information about where he is looking,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds was obviously unable to be at the Virginia Tech/Virginia game on Friday night, but he was pleased to see the Hokies come away with an important victory. The talented recruit was asked for his impression of...
