News broke last week that Arsenal Tech (Indianapolis, IN) defensive tackle Eric Whitehead, a Virginia Tech verbal commitment since the spring, was giving other schools a look. The 6’1”, 300-pound senior addressed his standing with the Hokies.
“I’m still committed 100-percent,” Whitehead said. “I just want to take my officials. I’ve been to Virginia Tech, but that’s pretty much it.”
Whitehead has taken an unofficial to Indiana. Last Thursday, he took an unofficial trip to Louisville to see the Cardinals take on Florida State.
“It was a great game. Pretty intense. Pretty live,” Whitehead said.
Louisville has not yet offered a scholarship. Instead, head coach Bobby Petrino and company “just told me they wanted to check out my film. They told me to call them on Wednesday (November 5),” Whitehead said.
Indiana and Louisville, along with Arizona State and Georgia Tech, are schools Whitehead expressed interest in visiting in the coming months. The standout defensive tackle plans to be in Blacksburg later this month when Virginia Tech hosts in-state rival UVa. He will be accompanied on the trip by Arsenal Tech teammate Adonis Williamson, a senior cornerback who also boasts an offer from the Hokies. Both players will be making official visits to Tech at that time.
