Now that we’re back to regular Saturday games, here’s an updated look at Virginia Tech’s numbers in the scoring zone. Remember, the scoring zone is inside the opponent’s 40 yard line.
First, let’s start with the Pitt game. Virginia Tech’s offense struggled mightily against Pittsburgh. They made it into the scoring zone on five different occasions, though it wasn’t all thanks to their own doing.

Tech’s first trip into the scoring zone was thanks to a 38 yard punt return by Greg Stroman all the way to the Pitt 32. However, the VT offense promptly went three and out. Joey Slye salvaged the drive by kicking a 42 yard field goal.
