Royal Palm Beach (FL) offensive tackle Fredrick Johnson claimed a scholarship offer from Virginia Tech last week. Earlier this evening, he became the 15th high school senior to verbally commit to the Hokies.

Johnson reportedly also held an offer from Marshall University before committing to the Hokies. He is the second high school senior offensive line recruit in Tech’s class of 2015, joining fellow Florida native Mike Arnold, who gave his pledge to head coach Frank Beamer on September 20.

Not a whole lot is known about Fredrick Johnson at this point. Certainly, though, he has great size. The Royal Palm Beach product measured in at 6’7”, 307 pounds at a Nike Combine earlier this year. He ran a 5.38-second 40 at the same combine, not a bad time for a massive offensive line prospect.

In March of this year, website FloridaHSFootball.com named Tech’s newest recruit a top performer at the Football University i350 Combine.

Standing in at around 6-foot-6, 285-pounds, Johnson is a monster. He is a ideal left tackle with his athleticism. I was extremely impressed with his long arms and range to keep the opposing defensive linemen at bay. Real good footwork also.

Check out footage of Tech’s pledge in action this season against Palm Beach Central. Stay tuned for more on him in the coming days.
