THE NUMBERS

Before we get to the latest scholarship breakdown for the 2015 season, here are some notes to consider…

– Tabyus Taylor signed with Virginia Tech in the class of 2014 but was a non-qualifier out of Hopewell High School (VA). He is currently at Atlanta Sports Academy in Georgia, hoping to get to Virginia Tech by next fall. From what we’re told, he is a longshot to be in Blacksburg next fall, but that is his intention so I am including him on the roster as a running back. Linebacker is another possible position for him if he does make it to Tech.

– Offensive lineman Adam Taraschke, who began his career at Tech as a scholarship player before leaving the program, is back on the team but not on scholarship. If he has a good season, he potentially could earn his way back to scholarship status, which could impact the numbers for next season. As of now, though, he is not in the two-deep.

– I have Melvin Keihn as a defensive end even though he is listed as a linebacker on the official roster. Keihn was moved to defensive end earlier in August to add depth. There certainly is a chance that linebacker is his ultimate position, but for now I have him as an end.

Also, I have class of 2015 commitment Damien Dozier listed as a linebacker but he could definitely end up at defensive end. He says Tech wants to use him at both positions.

– I have Chuck Clark listed as a safety even though he could play anywhere in the defensive backfield. Right now, he is listed as a backup corner on the official depth chart.

Without further ado, here is the most recent scholarship projection (by position) for the 2015 season.
