What will the Hokies do without Mark Shuman? Well, it certainly leaves them without much depth at offensive tackle.

Here’s how the depth chart looked last week when it was last updated.

LT: Laurence Gibson (r-Sr.), Parker Osterloh (r-Fr.), Billy Ray Mitchell (Fr.)
LG: Alston Smith (r-So.), Wyatt Teller (r-Fr.)
C: Caleb Farris (Sr.), David Wang (r-Sr.), Eric Gallo (Fr.)
RG: Augie Conte (r-So.), Braxton Pfaff (Fr.)
RT: Jonathan McLaughlin (So.), Colt Pettit (Fr.), Wade Hansen (r-Jr.), Adam Taraschke (r-So.)

Laurence Gibson has since sprained a foot, so Jonathan McLaughlin has been working with the #1 offense at left tackle. Adam Taraschke got reps with the #1 offense at right tackle with McLaughlin working the left side, which seems to indicate that he has passed Wade Hansen and Colt Pettit since last week’s depth chart update. Also, Wyatt Teller and Alston Smith have been alternating with the #1 offense at left guard.

If the season started tomorrow, my guess is that Tech’s starting OL would look like this:

LT: Jonathan McLaughlin (So.)
LG: Wyatt Teller (r-Fr.)
C: Caleb Farris (Sr.)
RG: Augie Conte (r-So.)
RT: Adam Taraschke (r-So.)

Take a closer look at each of those guys. There are three sophomores and a freshman. Wyatt Teller and Adam Taraschke have never taken a snap in a college game, and ...
