Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) had one member of its class of 2015 come off the board on Tuesday of this week, when linebacker Jahvoni Simmons committed to UVa. Rising senior athlete Jaason Lewis plans to announce his college decision next month. Barring a change of plans, though, defensive back Jahque Alleyne won’t be making his commitment any time soon.
Alleyne, a 6’1”, 180-pound prospect, has narrowed his list to East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, Virginia and Virginia Tech. As of now the plan is to take all five official visits.
“I’m making all five officials. Just want to take all five and see what is the right place for me,” said Alleyne, who has scheduled an official to Kentucky already.
On July 14, Alleyne took an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech, which was holding its second and final one-day camp of 2014 that day.
“I really liked it,” Alleyne said of Tech. “It actually shocked me that I liked it more than I expected. Coaches are really laid back. Coach Beamer and Coach Stiney and all those guys. Just talking to those guys, talking football really, and meeting some of the players.”
Alleyne says both in-state ACC schools remain in contention.
“UVa’s a good place. Got a couple teammates up there now. Couple guys I know,” he said.
