Hoping for an early verbal from Sweat

Nothing would make me happier than an early commitment from 5-star defensive end Josh Sweat. That would help with the perception of Virginia Tech’s program, it would put the fan base in a better place mentally, and it would make the Hokies a more attractive option to other recruits, particularly the guys from the 757.

Good players like to play next to good players. That’s no secret. They especially like to play with players from their own area code, if possible. Josh Sweat has a huge reputation in the 757 right now.

Jahque Alleyne is a safety recruit from Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach. Though he doesn’t play with Sweat at Oscar Smith, they are both from the same area and very familiar with each other. Obviously Alleyne thinks highly of Sweat as a football player, and I think Tech’s chances of landing Alleyne would obviously increase if they were to land Sweat.

Alleyne currently has a top six of (in alphabetical order): East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, Virginia and Virginia Tech. My gut feel is there is no way he picks ECU over those schools, he’s
