Deshawn McClease: Tech or Maryland?

Oscar Smith tailback Deshawn McClease will announce his college decision on Wednesday. He is down to Virginia Tech and Maryland. McClease loves Tech, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a 50-50 battle.

The Hokies have plenty of things going for them. He has a great relationship with Bryan Stinespring and Shane Beamer. Tech got his most recent visit, as he was in Blacksburg yesterday for the July prospect camp. He is more familiar with Virginia Tech than any other school, and the Hokies have been recruiting him longer than any other program.

Unfortunately, one thing makes Virginia Tech a bad choice for McClease or any other non-elite running back of the 2015 class: the depth chart. Take a look at the amount of running backs on the Tech roster that are sophomores or younger.
