Buzz Williams has been a busy man since his arrival at Virginia Tech. Dozens of prospects have visited Blacksburg, and dozens of offers have gone out to 2015, 2016 and 2017 recruits.
With so much activity, sometimes it’s hard to keep things straight. I bet I’ve read a dozen names at all five positions who have offers from the Hokies for the 2015 class. However, technically speaking, Tech has just one scholarship available for 2015. Here’s a list of the players who are eligible to be on the 2015-16 roster…
SG Adam Smith (r-Sr.)
C Joey van Zegeren (r-Sr.)
PF Shane Henry (Sr.)
PF Zach LeDay (r-Jr.)
PG Seth Allen (r-Jr.)
PG Devin Wilson (Jr.)
SG/SF Ben Emelogu (Jr.)
PG Malik Mueller (r-So.)
SG/SF Ahmed Hill (So.)
SF Justin Bibbs (So.)
SG/SF Jalen Hudson (SG/SF)
C Satchel Pierce (So.)

That being said, it appears that Buzz Williams is not only targeting combo forwards, but he is also making a major push for a point guard in the 2015 class. That probably means he’s not sold on at least one of the point guards already in the program. Since Williams brought in Seth Allen as a transfer, that leads me to believe that he lacks confidence in either Devin Wilson or Malik Mueller. Probably Mueller, since Wilson did a solid job as a freshman last season.
Today, we’ll take a look at some of the guys who could be Tech’s top targets for 2015. Keep in mind that recruiting is dynamic, and this list could grow or shrink over the course of the summer. Ultimately I think Tech will take 2-3 players for the 2015 class. You can bet on at least one guy leaving the program, and perhaps two. Whether it’s one or two guys who leave will determine whether the Hokies take 2-3 players in this class.
Also, remember that each player’s ranking will change between now and the final signing period. Some sites have updated their rankings recently, and some haven’t.
The two names I’m seeing the Hokies associated with the most are Justin Robinson and...
