Buzz Williams is still looking for prospects to fill out his 2014-15 Virginia Tech basketball team, but he’s also looking ahead to future classes. First, let’s touch on the possibilities for 2014.

As noted in past articles, Williams is looking to add a point guard and a power forward.  Remember that basketball recruiting could potentially go on throughout the summer.  Virginia Tech didn’t get Hank Thorns in 2007 until May 30, and Miami didn’t land Shane Larkin until the middle of August … just a couple of weeks before classes started!

Point Guard

Devonte Graham (Kansas) is off the board, and Kareem Canty (Marshall transfer) has a final three that does not include Virginia Tech.  A few other names have been mentioned with the Hokies:

Brandon Chauca: Though he’s only 5-9, Chauca has offers from Washington State and Missouri.  He visited Virginia Tech this past weekend, though he did not receive an offer while on his trip.  Chauca remains a possibility, but it doesn’t appear he is at the top of Tech’s list.

Roddy Peters: There is still no news on the Maryland transfer.  The Terps are leaving the ACC for the Big Ten, but that move doesn’t officially happen until later this summer.  If Peters does choose Tech or any other ACC school, I wouldn’t expect an announcement until after July 1, which is the date Maryland makes the jump.

Larry Austin: Austin was released from his LOI to Tennessee, and he has scheduled visits to Xavier and Providence.  I can’t find any evidence that Virginia Tech is involved or that Austin is interested, though until he commits to another school I’ll continue
