Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA) rising senior offensive tackle Austin Clark has compiled an impressive list of scholarship offers. Clemson, Duke, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Virginia Tech are among the schools vying for the 6’6”, 290-pound prospect; however, by week’s end only seven will remain in contention.

“I’m actually going to narrow it down to about a top seven or so later this week, probably Thursday,” said Clark, who later definitively said he would reveal his list on Thursday.

South Carolina was represented at Rockbridge yesterday. Miami will be represented today or tomorrow, UVa and Virginia Tech coaches are expected by next week. Clark says the in-state ACC schools “both have got a really good chance” to make tomorrow’s cut, but he wouldn’t say for sure.

“I actually went down to Virginia Tech by myself (for a spring practice last week),” Clark said. “It was a lot of fun. I spoke a lot with Coach (Stacy) Searels and watched him break down film and the way he coaches. I wanted a chance to get to know him. To see a scrimmage on top of that, it was pretty exciting.”

Tech’s coaches “keep telling me about them being close enough for my parents to come see me play. Definitely there is a chance for early playing time. They have a need for offensive tackles. Plus, my old teammate Caleb Farris
