Now that a bye week in football is upon us, we’ve finally got some time to discuss the basketball team.  After falling to USC Upstate in their opener, the Hokies have rallied to win three consecutive games, including a big comeback win against border rival West Virginia.

It could be worse.  The Hokies are playing a lot of young players, and the freshmen have flashed potential thus far.  It’s still far too early to get an accurate scouting report on those freshmen, but I think it’s safe to say that they have exceeded our expectations thus far.

The Freshman Class

Virginia Tech originally signed six players in the 2013 recruiting class.  Three of them are currently contributing for the Hokies.  Donte Clark didn’t qualify, and he ended up at UMass.  German signee Malik Mueller was declared academically ineligible this year by the NCAA, while Maurice Kirby is redshirting.

The three freshmen the Hokies have out on the floor have done a nice job.  Let’s look at them individually.
