This time last week, Benedictine (Richmond, VA) senior Raymon Minor revealed via Twitter that he would be “Cutting down my list soon and Making my decision.”

The 6’3″, 225-pound prospect kicked off the final stretch of his recruitment with an official visit to Nebraska this past weekend. With four official visits left at his disposal, what is Minor’s next step?

Minor “may set official visits to see Miami, West [Virginia], and Wisconsin as well,” Cadets head coach Greg Lilly wrote in a short e-mail update on Minor’s recruitment. “[Virginia] Tech is still his top school and ECU and Marshall are high on his list as well.”

A player with the athletic potential to play several positions on the major college level, Minor is being recruited by Virginia Tech as a linebacker. Other schools see him as either a wide receiver or H-Back. Minor played linebacker and receiver his senior year, helping Benedictine to a 6-4 overall record that included a playoff appearance (click here to watch his highlights).

Minor has taken numerous unofficial visits to Tech, including two trips this fall and a 2-day visit in July. He is Frank Beamer’s latest target at Benedictine, a school Beamer and company have enjoyed success in recruiting in the recent past. Former Cadets Nigel Williams and Charley Meyer currently play for the Hokies.

TSL’s Take

We continue to like Virginia Tech’s position with Minor, who has had Tech high on his list for a long time. At this point I don’t see any school overtaking the Hokies in the end. Academics could be an issue, but Minor has put in a real focus on the classroom his junior and senior years..
