Q: What’s the one thing you want to see Virginia Tech improve upon this week against Marshall before they begin ACC play?

Baltimore Hokie: I want to see a running game emerge.  This starts with the offensive line.  I wasn’t as positive about the OL after the Bama game – I needed to see more evidence.  I am still looking for it.  I want to see us control the line of scrimmage and open holes.

Beyond that, I want to see us execute the system.  If our system is predicated on the zone read, we have to execute both the outside and inside versions well.  Overall, I’m looking for a commitment to execution.

Upwind of uva: There are a few choices, largely limited to the offense and special teams play. But since you asked for just one, I want to see improved play by the offensive line, and particularly on the interior. I’m hoping that last week was the anomaly, rather than the alternative of the performance against Alabama being the outlier. Everyone has a bad game now and again (Wang), and every team has guys who play at less than their peak due to being dinged (Miller). I’m hoping that the line pulls it together in both run and pass blocking, continuing to build the foundation for a more consistently productive offense.

Here is a list of our 2nd down yards to go from the ECU game per the box score on hokiesports.com: 9, 11, 10, 7, 9 ,8, 7, 5, 15, 10, 5, 10, 9, 6, 8, 10, Goal (from the 3 after no gain on 1st down), 10, 10, 20, 7, 10, 10, 3, 7 (after 1st and 5)

Personally, I’ve always considered getting to
