TSL Roundtable: Name Your Official Visits

You are a 5-star recruit from Virginia and you have offers from everyone. Based on your own personal preferences, which 5 schools would you choose for an official visit?

Hokie CPA: If I can write my own ticket and go ANYWHERE, whether or not I visit Virginia Tech would depend on a few assumptions. And let’s be honest … that’s what Our Gracious Host and Moderator is really asking here. If I grew up as a Virginia Tech fan, attended several games growing up, and probably even casually met Coach Beamer on an unofficial visit once or twice, and probably attended camp there, I’m not sure I’m taking an official visit to Blacksburg. I’m already familiar with the campus and I already know whether I feel comfortable there. I only get five official visits, why would I take one of them to a campus to which I have already driven several times?

I don’t think there is any doubt I would visit Alabama. They have won three of the last four national titles and they’re the favorite to three-peat this season. They must be doing something down there to get these kids playing so well, winning so much, and getting drafted to multi-million dollar contracts in the NFL. As a 5* recruit, that sort of thing interests me A LOT.

I think I also look at Ohio State. They also get a lot of kids to the NFL, they win a lot of games, and Urban Meyer is a player’s coach from everything I hear. I’d like to see what he thinks. Next, I think I’m going to USC. I’m not sure I’m going to go to school out west, but there are plenty of reasons to visit Southern California … they win football games, they send kids to the NFL, the weather is almost always perfect, and the co-eds are frickin’ amazingly HOT.
