Defensive End

Commits: Vinny Mihota

Virginia Tech wanted two defensive ends in this class.  They got a very good one in Vinny Mihota .  Alabama offered Mihota, as did Stanford and a few others.  He’s a very good football player who should be an excellent defensive lineman for the Hokies.

Unfortunately, Da’Shawn Hand eliminated Tech, and Jesse Aniebonam is likely headed to Maryland.  Virginia Tech could offer Jay Payton , and I think there’s a chance he could grow into a defensive end.  However, for now he’s a linebacker.

I don’t see the Hokies getting back into it with Hand or Jalyn Holmes , and I think it’s too late to get involved with any other highly-touted defensive ends.  If Tech wants a second defensive end in this class, they will have to find an under-the-radar guy.

Defensive Tackle

Commits: None

Virginia Tech has two defensive tackles remaining on their board, and they want two defensive tackles in this recruiting class.  They are up against some heavy competition.
