Benedictine (Richmond, VA) rising senior Raymon Minor is no stranger to Virginia Tech. In fact, including this past weekend’s trip, the 6’3″, 225-pound prospect estimates that he has now been to Blacksburg six times.
“I had been to Virginia Tech before,” he said. “But this [past weekend] was my first time staying overnight. It was my first time just walking around campus… it was my first time seeing the campus, really.”
Minor arrived in Blacksburg early Saturday afternoon, just as the afternoon portion of the football one-day camp was getting underway. Benedictine rising senior quarterback Bryce Hamilton participated in the camp, while Minor and Cadets rising junior defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell (Ferrell has a VT offer) watched from the sidelines.
As Minor mentioned, he stayed overnight Saturday and through Sunday. On Sunday, Virginia Tech hosted a “Prospect Day” recruiting event that was attended by around 40 recruits, including five verbal commitments.
“[Virginia Tech] is a really nice school,” Minor said. “Everything is like in a little town. The fans and stuff are great. It’s a really nice school.”
Minor added: “Virginia Tech is pretty high on my list. What I like about Virginia Tech is the coaching staff. They really want me to come there. The academic part is really good. They treat me like I’m already on the team. I’m family to them. And it’s good to know I would have teammates (DT Nigel Williams and WR Charley Meyer) there that came from my high school.”
Virginia Tech has offered a scholarship to Minor, who boasts over 20 major FBS offers in total. He is staying patient with the recruiting process and does not appear close to making a commitment.
