DaeSean Hamilton considered making his college choice before the start of his senior season, but ultimately he was not ready. Mountain View’s (Stafford, VA) star senior wide receiver/defensive back has no regrets, though, as he is managing the situation — college coaches can now call once a week — just fine.
“I’m pretty satisfied with how everything is going,” Hamilton said. “I haven’t been thinking about recruiting too much. I’ve been worrying about school and our season, which is the stuff that’s right in front of me.”
Certainly, the 6’1″, 185-pound senior remains a target of many major FBS programs.
“Coaches have called. I get about four or five calls a week,” Hamilton said. “Last week, West Virginia showed up unexpectedly and watched our game against Riverbend. The week before, Penn State was taking in our game.
“Illinois, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, and Wake Forest [have called]. Temple has also called. I e-mail with Miami’s coaches.”
Hamilton plans to take official visits before making a commitment. He has tentative dates in mind for UVa (weekend of October 20) and Wake Forest (sometime in November), but he cautions that nothing is definitive as of yet. Hamilton also says there is a “pretty good chance” he visits Virginia Tech.
“[UVa and Virginia Tech] are situations where I could easily drive down one weekend and come back in a day or two,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton claims no favorites. His decision is likely to come down to those official visits, and right now he plans to make all five allotted trips. In the meantime, Mountain View is looking...
