Virginia Tech has five commitments from defensive players, and they will use the time between now and February to selectively recruit several major targets on the defensive side of the ball.

As we talked about earlier in the week, the Virginia Tech program is flush with young defensive linemen.  The Hokies are being selective as to who they are recruiting heavily up front, while they focus their attention on linebackers and defensive backs.

Tech has started out very well at linebacker and in the secondary.  Now they are trying to add a few more prospects to fill out their class.

The best thing about getting so many early commitments, and signing such a small class, is that it gives the Tech coaching staff an opportunity to get an early start on 2014 recruiting.  The state of Virginia is loaded in 2014, particularly on the defensive line.
