Big Names Visiting for the Spring Game

One of Virginia Tech’s premiere recruiting events, the Spring Game, is now upon us.  The Hokies enter the weekend with four commitments, all hailing from the state of Virginia:  Clover Hill linebacker/safety Holland Fisher , Henrico cornerback Cequan Jefferson , Patrick Henry (Roanoke) wide receiver/defensive back David Prince and North Stafford safety Anthony Shegog .  Will Tech build on its 2013 class this weekend?  While there aren’t any high school juniors openly seeking to commit on the spot, the possibility certainly is there with several prospects.

Let’s take a look at those 2013 targets — those with an offer from Virginia Tech — expected in Blacksburg tomorrow.

(Note:  The players mentioned in this piece are those we have confirmed as expected to attend tomorrow’s event.  It is not a complete list, but we’ll try and confirm as many as possible throughout the weekend, in addition to providing updates and reporting any breaking news.)

Kwamane Bowens , WR, Salem (Virginia Beach, VA)

Bowens is considering offers from Boston College, Illinois, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech, among others.  He seems definitely open to leaving the state and is in no hurry to make a decision.  I wouldn’t expect a decision this weekend, but Tech could improve its position.

Charles Clark , DB, King’s Fork (Suffolk, VA)

Clark has had offers from Virginia and Virginia Tech since last summer, and the versatile athlete really likes both schools.  In terms of when he wants to commit, Clark hasn’t set a definitive timetable.

Kendall Fuller , CB, Good Counsel (Olney, MD)

Fuller reportedly is down to a final six:  Alabama, Clemson, Maryland, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.  I still think Tech will be tough to beat ultimately.  The 5-star corner discussed making his commitment at the 2013 U.S Army All-American Bowl, but three
