Last week was a good one for Mountain View (Stafford, VA) wide receiver/defensive back DaeSean Hamilton , who landed scholarship offers from Temple, Wake Forest and West Virginia, effectively doubling the amount of FBS offers he possesses.
“I was excited for all of them of course, but I didn’t expect West Virginia,” said Hamilton, a two-way first-team all-district performer this past season as a junior. “I didn’t expect it because I hadn’t heard much at all from them before the offer.”
The West Virginia program made a big statement in last season’s final game, destroying Clemson 70-33 in the Discover Orange Bowl. The win certainly caught Hamilton’s attention.
“I don’t really know too much about West Virginia. I just know they had a great season last year,” Hamilton said. “I saw the bowl game against Clemson. It stood out to me, how they put up those big numbers. I’m assuming they’ve got some really, really good players.”
East Carolina, Liberty, Virginia and Virginia Tech previously offered the 6’1″, 185-pound junior. Virginia and Virginia Tech in particular are “showing a whole lot of interest.”
So far this year, Hamilton has taken three visits to UVa and one to Virginia Tech. Two of the three trips to Charlottesville came last week, when he made an unofficial visit last Wednesday and attended the Spring Game on Saturday.
“There was a mixture in both visits of academics and campus life and the football aspect,” Hamilton said. “On the first visit, I watched practice and took a mini tour with the wide receivers coach.
