2011 first-team Commonwealth District selection <b> DaeSean Hamilton </b> is a prime target of UVa and Virginia Tech. The Mountain View (Stafford, VA) junior wide receiver/defensive back attended games in Charlottesville and Blacksburg last fall, and he returned to both schools within the past month for unofficial visits.
Hamilton reflected on his most recent college experience, which was in Blacksburg earlier this week.
“I went down there on Sunday night, and I got to visit on Monday,” recalled Hamilton. “I thought it was really nice. I was impressed with the campus and the facilities. The coaches are nice. They made it seem like a good place.”
Head coach Frank Beamer and primary recruiter Bud Foster spoke at length with the versatile athlete. Coach Foster described the 6’1″, 185-pound Hamilton as “dynamic,” while Coach Beamer believes he could play on either side of the ball.
“Coach Beamer talked to me about coming to school there. He said he likes me as a player, and he told me why they offered me,” Hamilton said. “He told me about the positives of Virginia Tech. He told me about the Saturday game atmosphere. Him and Coach Foster were both in on the meeting. They both talked about how they’d probably want me on offense, but they could see me on defense too. It would be up to me.”
The two-way standout trekked to Charlottesville almost three weeks ago for the University of Virginia’s Junior Day on February 25.
“UVa was nice,” Hamilton said. “I still got to talk to a lot of the coaches one-on-one. I went around and looked at the campus and facilities like I did at Tech, but afterwards I watched the basketball game against UNC. And I sat with Coach London and my family.”
