The 2009 recruiting class was a great one for Virginia Tech. Many of the
players who signed with the Hokies in February of 2009 are already playing major
roles just two years later, and they were a big reason that Tech won 11 games
this season.

Some of the players in that class are just halfway through their careers. A
couple of others could be moving on to the NFL after the Sugar Bowl.

There are five types of players in this class, and here’s now it breaks down …

Status Number
Stars 3
Starters 7
Two-Deep 5
Backup 2
Left Program/Never Enrolled 3

75% of the 2009 recruiting class are already major contributors. The success
rate of this class could be as high as 85%. That’s an incredible percentage.
Half of the class has already started, which is a great number. Others will join
that group as early as next season.
