Christchurch School offensive tackle Will Smith took his first visit to Virginia Tech on Saturday, and performed well during camp drills in front of the Tech coaching staff. Holding one offer from Hampton, Smith hopes to see his offer list expand soon.
“I’ve been to Wake Forest, Maryland, NC State and UVA,” Smith said, indicating that he has no favorites at this point. “I’m really just waiting things out right now.”
Most observers considered Smith to be one of the best offensive linemen at the camp, and the Tech coaches agree. On Tuesday, he should get more information about his scholarship situation.
“I thought I did good. The coaches told me I helped my stock a lot. They are meeting as a staff about offensive linemen on Tuesday, and they are going to decide who they are going to offer and things like that.”
If the Hokies offer, they are sure to be high on the list for the 6-5, 280-lbs offensive tackle prospect. Smith had nothing but good things to say about his visit.
“I liked it a lot. The campus was beautiful. The facilities were just amazing, and the coaches are really nice.”
Quick Scouting Report
I had a chance to watch Smith a lot on Saturday, and I thought he was the best looking offensive tackle prospect at the camp. He has very good feet. He is still very young as a football player, but I think he has excellent potential as a lineman at the college level.
