N.C. State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have offered Hermitage (Richmond, VA) offensive lineman/defensive tackle Andre Miles-Redmond , who says a school from the Southeastern Conference may be close to coming through as well. The 6-4, 260-pound junior updates the latest on his recruitment and also provides the latest on a Hermitage team that went undefeated all the way until the Group AAA, Division 6 state title game last season.
Recruiting-wise, “I met Chris Beatty from Vanderbilt. I talked to him. He said they are looking at me,” Miles-Redmond said. “He said they would probably offer soon. They just have to pull my transcripts.”
Miles-Redmond is open to all colleges, but at the same time he is satisfied with the three schools that have offered so far.
“I’m not looking for any specific schools to offer,” he said. “I’m very pleased with the ones I have now. I’m not wishing on any one other school. I’m happy with the ones I have now. But, I do know this is the time when guys usually pick up offers.”
Miles-Redmond made a name for himself this past season, his first as a Hermitage Panther. He started at right tackle and also saw action at defensive tackle, helping Hermitage to district and region championships en route to a state championship game appearance. He has assumed a leadership role for the team this offseason.
“I just want to lead the team,” the Hermitage rising senior standout said. “I want to work hard. I’m excited about this upcoming season. We’re going to go all out.”
Falling short of a state championship was “kind of disappointing, but again we did have a great season. One of the best in school history,” Miles-Redmond said. “We all want the same thing. We want to win, but we are going to take it one game at a time.”
Miles-Redmond looks to showcase his talents this weekend, when he’ll head to North Carolina for a Nike Camp. He probably will attend UVa’s Big Man camp next month as well, he said.
