Offensive Line Stars Visit Virginia Tech

Western Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.) brothers Clayton Stadnik made a 2-day unofficial visit to Virginia Tech last Friday and Saturday. Brock, a 6-5, 285-pound offensive lineman, took some time to reflect on the visit, the first time he and his brother had been to Blacksburg since a one-day camp last summer.

“We arrived on Friday. We got there around noon,” Stadnik said. “We met with Coach O’Cain. Then they took us around to see the facilities. We saw the brand new locker room and the player lounge, things they were building the last time we were there. They said they are also building a new practice facility. We talked to Coach Beamer and other coaches, like Coach Newsome. We stayed in the offensive line meeting room, where he showed the offensive line film. It was cool to get the inside look. Then there was a little bit of a scrimmage. We got to see them get after it.”

According to Brock, one of the main objectives of the visit was to feel more comfortable with the coaches, so having an opportunity to speak with offensive line coach Curt Newsome and head coach Frank Beamer was particularly important.

“Coach Newsome is really a great guy,” Stadnik said. “He’s really nice. He spoke with us and told us how he wanted us in the program. Coach Beamer, speaking with him was great. We went to his office. He had an ACC championship ring on and handed it out. It was just great to hold the ring and visualize what it would be like to be ACC champions. He told us he appreciated us coming to visit.”
