Virginia Tech has recruited well at defensive end over the last few years.
With Steven Friday departed, and Chris Drager moving to tight end, it’s time for
Tech’s young defensive ends to step up and prove they belong.

Last season, J.R. Collins and James Gayle played well in backup roles at
defensive end. This year Collins will also be used at defensive tackle some this
spring. It’s not clear if he’ll play more at end or tackle, but for now we are
going to keep him at defensive end for our previews.

Defensive end is the youngest position on the team, with no player older than
a r-sophomore, except for the recently moved Quillie Odom .
