On Monday we talked about Virginia Tech using the Duke game to propel
themselves to bigger and better things, namely an NCAA Tournament berth. On
Tuesday night, we saw the exact opposite happen, as the Hokies forfeited just
about everything they won in the Duke game thanks to an embarrassing home
blowout at the hands of Boston College.
Blowout Loss at Home to an Unranked Team: Uncharted Waters
Basketball is an up and down sport. On one hand it’s not surprising that
Virginia Tech lost last night, three days following the biggest day in the
program’s history. On the other hand, to get embarrassed like that at home, on
Senior Night, getting flat-out taken to the woodshed, is very surprising.
That was Virginia Tech’s sixth double-digit home loss since joining the ACC.
It was just their second double-digit home loss to an unranked team since
joining the ACC.
