West Boca Raton (Boca Raton, FL) wide receiver Robert Lockhart works out four times a week to sharpen his talents at wide receiver. The 6-2, 175-pound senior is now enjoying the fruits of his labor, scoring offers from Kansas State and Vanderbilt, among others, and drawing interest from Virginia Tech as Signing Day approaches.

Lockhart, who hauled in 34 receptions for 686 yards and six touchdowns in 2010, updated the latest in his recruitment.

“The schools looking at me are Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Eastern Michigan, FAU, FIU, St. Francis and Robert Morris,” Lockhart said. “The schools that have offered me are Vanderbilt, Kansas State, FAU, Eastern Michigan, St. Francis and Robert Morris.”

Lockhart would like to be able to add Virginia Tech to the offer list.

“I haven’t been offered yet, but hopefully I’ll get an offer,” Lockhart said. “I’m very excited about my visit there. Virginia Tech is one of my top choices.”

Lockhart left yesterday for an official visit to Eastern Michigan. He is scheduled to visit Vanderbilt next weekend and Virginia Tech the weekend before Signing Day. If he has not signed, Lockhart plans to make an official to Kansas State the weekend after Signing Day.

At this point in the process, two schools top the list for the productive wideout.

“I’m pretty high on Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt,” Lockhart said.

Official visits, though, will be highly important in helping Lockhart figure out his college future.

“Basically, how I see myself at the school and if I’m comfortable there or not,” Lockhart said when asked what he will be looking for when he makes these visits. “I want to be around the environment and see how I feel. I’m just checking out each school, seeing if I’m comfortable.”

Lockhart impressed at free safety as well his senior season, but wide receiver is the position he is being recruited to play. Asked to give a scouting report of sorts on his game, the West Boca star said, “I have nice size. I’m fast. I’m quick, and I consider myself a great route runner. I think I have the total package. I see myself as an X receiver, but maybe moving around too.”
