Osbourn (Manassas, VA) athlete Dominique Terrell did not make an official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend, but, barring a change, expect one to happen in January. The 5-11, 175-pound senior standout has four official visit spots remaining after making an official to West Virginia in November.
“Dominique did not go on his visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend,” Osbourn head coach Steve Schultze wrote via e-mail. “He does have an official visit to UVA and is trying to set up a visit back to Virginia Tech.”
In no particular order, Schultze listed Virginia Tech, UVa, West Virginia, North Carolina and Texas Tech as the likely top five for Terrell, whose decision almost certainly will come in January or early February.
“He is going to take a couple more visits before he totally decides,” Schultze wrote.
Virginia Tech remains interested in another Osbourn senior, 5-10, 165-pound wide receiver/defensive back Lucky Whitehead. Whitehead has top talent according to Schultze, but academics are the concern right now. Schultze admits that his standout senior may have to go the prep school or junior college route.
“Virginia Tech loves Lucky, but again they’re not sure if he’ll qualify or not,” Schultze wrote.
“I truly think he was our best two-way player. Lucky is a winner and playmaker, whether it be in the return game on special teams, at lock down corner or as a slot making plays. Although he is a little undersized at 5’10 165 pounds, he will end up playing for a big time Division 1 program before it is all said and done.”
Knowles To Visit VT
Liberty Christian Academy (Lynchburg, VA) wide receiver Demitri Knowles took an official visit to U-Conn this past weekend and will take an official visit to Virginia Tech in mid-January according to LCA head coach Frank Rocco.
The 6-1, 175-pound Knowles, reigning VIS state champion in the long jump, the 55 meters and the 300 meters, scored scholarship offers from the Hokies and Huskies as a result of his senior season performance. The University of Virginia has offered as well.
Knowles previously visited Tech this fall.
