Hokies Struggling in Hoops

Eight games into the season, the Virginia Tech basketball team isn’t exactly
where they thought they would be. After starting the season ranked #23 in the
country, the Hokies are 4-4, they’ve lost three in a row, and they’ve failed to
score 60 points in five of their eight games. They have no top 50 wins, and they
have two home losses. This isn’t the start we envisioned.

This past week was a big week for the basketball program. They had three
nationally televised games in the span of seven days, including high profile
ESPN matchups against UNLV and Purdue. They closed the week with a home Sunday
night ACC game with in-state rival UVA. The week represented a major opportunity
to beat one or two quality opponents, and get off to a good start in conference
play.

Instead, the week was a disaster. The Hokies lost all three games, and to be
perfectly blunt, they looked bad doing it. After eight games, we’ve all got
plenty of thoughts on the team, and today I’ll offer mine.
